Flood Protection Options

Manual or Automatic Flood Barrier?

Both manual and automatic flood barriers offer effective protection, but they serve different needs. Here's how to decide between a removable (manual) barrier and an automatic system.

Manual (Removable) Flood Barrier

The manual flood barrier is a cost-effective solution that requires no electrical maintenance and can be discreetly stored when not in use. However, it does require your presence to install it before rainfall.

Automatic System

The automatic system deploys itself upon water detection, making it ideal if you are frequently away or if the access point is critical. This convenience comes with a higher initial investment and requires periodic checks.

Our Recommendation

For properties with occasional floods and frequent presence, a manual barrier is sufficient. If you have frequent absences, a sensitive basement, or a technical room, an automatic system is preferable. A combination of both can also be used depending on the access points.

FAQ

Does the automatic system work without electricity?

Good systems include a backup battery to function even during power outages, which are common during bad weather.

Can both systems be combined on the same house?

Yes: for example, an automatic system for the garage and removable barriers for the cellar windows to optimize the budget.
